The Little Mermaid | Framestore

Heya everyone!

My Journey with The Little Mermaid at Framestore

I'm elated to share my experience working on the film, "The Little Mermaid." Being a part of the talented VFX team at Framestore was an honour.

While on this project, I was tasked with creating and optimizing various 'shiny' assets. Not only did I model, but I also had the opportunity to enhance, clean, and optimize a plethora of assets modeled by other brilliant artists.

Given the high visual demands of films, optimizing our models was of paramount importance. My challenge? To streamline these intricate models without compromising their quality. By reducing the number of polygons, I was able to make them as lightweight as possible, ensuring seamless integration into the film's vast underwater universe. Additionally, I worked extensively on extracting the Displacement and Normals, refining the details and enhancing the overall visual experience.

The essence of this task was optimization. We wanted to maintain the visual integrity of these assets while ensuring they remained as efficient as possible for the final rendering and integration processes.

Though my tenure on this project was brief, it was an enriching experience.

Thank you to the entire team at Framestore and to all who were a part of this magical journey underwater.
